Our Benevolent Leader

Chef Christina Wood is the founder, owner, head chef and benevolent leader of Temple Pastries and Sacro Bosco.  Wood began teaching herself how to bake after graduating from University of Florida, and once she committed to baking as a profession, moved sight unseen to Seattle in 2015 to gain professional experience.  After working at Bakery Nouveau and Cafe Besalu, Wood began Temple Pastries in 2018 as a pop-up croissant shop and wholesale business.  Temple Pastries opened its brick and mortar bakery in the Central District in 2020.

Wood specializes in laminated pastries and desserts.  Since Temple’s opening, she has expanded the offerings to include sourdough breads, cakes, chocolates, an ice cream window in the summer, and a Roman style pizza restaurant Sacro Bosco that operates in the evenings.  In 2025, Wood released her first cookbook Pastry Temple and was given the Rising Star award from StarChefs.  Wood was nominated for a James Beard award for Outstanding Pastry Chef in 2026.
